Holy Orders

Holy Orders is similar to
marriage in that it is a sacrament of commitment and service. Rather than pledging his life to a single spouse, a man who receives Holy Orders is understood to give his life for the sake of the entire People of God as a deacon, priest or bishop. One who receives the sacrament of Holy Orders is called to lead the people in the worship of God, care for the poor and needy, and to exhort the community of believers to greater fidelity to the Lord.
